Skills Bootcamp
This summer, we delivered a highly successful Skills Bootcamp for secondary school students and college leavers, equipping young people with the tools, experiences and connections they need to succeed. Our bootcamp is more than just a training programme, it’s a launchpad for personal growth, confidence and opportunity. Participants leave with practical skills, new experiences and a strong network to support their ambitions.
Our bootcamp is designed to deliver impact through three powerful pillars:
1. Developing Skills for Life and Work
We focus on building both core and technical skills that matter for life and work such as:
-
Core Competencies: Leadership, teamwork, communication, and public speaking.
-
Technical Skills: IT proficiency, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and project management.
-
Real-World Application: Young people put their skills into action through interactive challenges, including our signature “Entrepreneurship Game,” where they create and pitch their own business ideas.
2. Practical and Real Life Experience
We broaden young people’s perspectives and aspirations by providing:
-
Experiences: Guest seminars from professionals in different backgrounds such as education, law, dentistry, medicine and cyber security.
-
Industry and University Visits: Day trips to leading companies, universities and community organisations.
-
Career Exploration: Hands-on activities and work experience opportunities to help participants discover new pathways and build confidence in their future choices. Participants also get to create a short term and a long term career plan with a Careers Information, Advice and Guidance Officer.
3. Building Connections
We help young people grow their networks and support systems:
-
Mentorship: Pairing participants with mentors and successful alumni from their community.
-
Peer Support: Creating a collaborative, supportive environment for learning and friendship.
-
Community Engagement: Opportunities to connect with local leaders, employers and organisations.
